October 2009 in Review

This picture is a good opening for October.  This month was dominated by Halloween (of course) and to celebrate it, we took a trip to 6 Flags "Fright Fest" (finally!!).  We had the excitement of getting costumes, Halloween Parades, Halloween party, trick or treating and the customary rifling through my kids candy for the treats that I like.  I also took a trip to PA which is in another blog titled "Children of the Corn".

I thought this picture showcased my dill pickle colored walls nicely. We were actually playing a game of throw the stuffed animal down the hallway. (I like to be creative and stuff)

This is us getting prepared for "fright fest".  Yes, that's blood colored water coming out of the fountain. Livy was all calm, cool and collected until it started to get dark and the ghouls came out.  Let just say I ended the night with 70lbs on my back, running through the park for dear life.

I also dubbed this month "The month of the fattening salad" for I had found the one ingredient missing in a healthy lunch....... and that was candied walnuts.  Leave it to me to make a salad that's over 800 calories.

Watching James walk to the bus stop in this outfit cracked me up.  We also just made it to his Halloween parade and saw him go once around the giant circle.

After school he told me he didn't see me the second time around (sorry James, but we had to get a jump start on getting out of there....it was a mad house. (you'll understand when your older)

Olivia was so excited for her parade but was so concerned about whether she should bring a change of clothes, wear her costume there, etc...it was adorable.  I was relieved to find out she wasn't the only rrrr, GoGo dancer at the school. (whew)

This was also the month of Chess!! I was so excited because I remember when my father taught me to pay (and I also remember the day I finally beat him).  James picked it up right away and Liv is just starting to get the hang of it.  Keep an eye out for my son kicking ass on the chess team. (he'll be the one wearing the Dungeons and Dragons T-Shirt)

Liv also got her "Dream Bag" from Century 21 this month.  She was so excited, she filled it up right when she got home and nonchalantly walked around the house about 20 times. (and yes, I mean outside the house)

I went with James to his school Halloween party but this time I (thankfully) didn't dress up. I did run into Maria Shriver though (below).  I guess Arnold was busy in CA.

I came home one day from my hair cut and I found "Mantis" from Kung Fu Panda waiting for me on my back porch.  James said it wasn't him...but check out the similarities

And we had a surprise visit from the one and only "Bobby and the midnights"..aka Poppy...aka Dad (long ago...Bambi...shhhh, don't tell)  We pigged out at chillis and made conversation like only two deaf people can.  (side note, I left my coat in the car because Chillis, unlike most any restaurant, will leave you smelling like you fell into a vat of goulash...and I couldn't have that)

Here's Liv with her best friends, Beulah and Tilda.

Me and Liv at CVS, trying on reading glasses.  That's how we roll on a Friday night.

Here's a seldom seen pic of "Badass Dean" (whispering...he wears a handlebar mustache and says "whatcha gonna do about it" a lot)

Every month we have to go to Friendly's at least once.  We work on our stand up routines, color the place mat and pump some dollars into the "Crane" game.  James has won about three times there...which, to me, is amazing.

Isn't he adorable? I have to give him props though, I asked him to do an imitation of an old man eating ice cream and he nailed it!!..funny!!

Olivia struggled with my challenge to get up and get herself a balloon.  But when she did, she felt like the balloon whisperer. (it's the little things that empower children)

My chilli kicks ass.....secret ingredient?

2 jars of salsa!

I had to give a seminar in OH on "Online Marketing"...... Secret ingredient?

2 pints of beer!

Ok, that was October.....can't wait to see what November brings.
